Celebrity Duets

Yet another reality show has hit the airwaves and this time it’s not just singing for wanna be celebrities. Instead, it is a reality show that starts off with celebrities to begin with. Celebrities who are already famous for their voices team up with other celebrities who aren’t famous for their voices in order to create a duet. The new reality show is called Celebrity Duets. To get an idea of how Celebrity Duets plays out you can imagine American Idol. Each week an elimination takes place and is decided by judges and viewers alike. At the end of the show the celebrity that wins will be able to donate the cash prize to a favorite charity.

Perhaps the similarity to American Idol is a result of the show’s executive producer and famous Idol judge, Simon Cowell. Fox Television Studios as well as Simco are the production companies behind the reality show. Some of the singers on the reality show include GoGo Belinda Carlisle, Michael Bolton, Brian McKnight, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Cyndi Lauper, Macy Gray, Clint Black, Smokey Robinson, Kenny Loggins, Richard Marx, Randy Travis, Dionne Warwick as well as others.

The show will show how the singers and non-singers work together to find a good song to sing, practice, and ultimately perform for the judges and the audience in the studio and at home. The viewers at home will call in their votes and decide who stays and who is eliminated week to week. The non singing celebrities will be paired up with different singing stars week to week. They will be prepped and trained in order to make the most of their Thursday night performances. Friday nights will be the show where a celebrity is eliminated on live television by the call ins from viewers.

One of the judges is David Foster. He has won 14 Grammies and is a famous composer and arranger. He has worked with the likes of Andrea Bocelli, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and Barbara Streisand. This is not Foster’s first time on a reality show as he was also on American Idol and Nashville Star. The celebrity who wins Celebrity Duet will be able to determine what charity receives the cash prize from the reality show.

If you like reality shows then Celebrity Duet will become your next favorite for sure. Seeing your favorite singing stars teaching your favorite film, and the like, stars to sing a duet and watching them perform is incredibly entertaining. In fact, at some points it might even be humorous or surprising. The Celebrity Duet reality show is certainly a format that has worked for other shows and will more than likely work well in this new setup. Make sure you catch the first episode of Celebrity Duet so you can see the progress of the stars and also take part in the voting process to say who stays and who goes!
